Scoutbook Plus is the official record and stays that way. Carabiner works alongside it: the pack runs its meetings here, and confirmed completions go to Scoutbook Plus through the advancement upload that Scouting America already accepts from third-party tools.
How the export run will work
- See what is waiting. The count of confirmed, unexported completions and awards, and any validation holds.
- Validation before export. Every scout needs a member ID and a name that matches the official roster exactly. Rows that fail are held and listed, not silently dropped. Fix them in the roster and they clear.
- Chunked automatically. The upload format allows 500 rows per file including the header. Carabiner splits the files for you.
- Download, upload by hand. The chair or Cubmaster uploads the files on the Scoutbook Plus roster page; Carabiner has no way to do that for you, because there is no API, and we will not pretend otherwise.
- Paste the result back. Scoutbook Plus processes the file and returns a log. Paste it into the run and Carabiner marks each row accepted or rejected. Rejected rows return to the queue with the error text.
- Corrections after export are flagged, never hidden. Reverting an exported completion creates a correction record you can act on in the next run.
What Carabiner reads from Scoutbook Plus
A roster export, as a CSV a person downloads. Nothing automatic. The header mapping can be corrected on import and previewed before anything is written. See Roster and dens.
The upload format is documented to vendors and is not versioned publicly. Carabiner records the format version on every export run and keeps a one-scout live test as the regression check before the exporter is called done.
