A pack roster is not a list of kids. It is kids, the adults responsible for each of them, the den each one meets with, and the rank that den is working on. Carabiner keeps those together so nothing has to be re-entered when a family joins a second group or a scout moves up.
What is in the app today
- Import from a Scoutbook Plus roster export. Upload the CSV, check the header mapping (you can correct it), preview, then write. Or type a list by den if that is faster.
- Dens with a rank and a program year. Add dens, assign den leaders. One adult can lead two dens; a den leader sees their den and not the others.
- Guardians per kid. Each youth record carries the adults who can see it and act for it. Co-parents both see the same record.
- Roles per unit, any number at once. Pack admin, advancement chair, den leader, parent. A person holds the roles they actually hold, in every unit they are part of, under one login.
- The missing-member-ID checklist. Nothing exports to Scoutbook Plus without a member ID and an exact name match, so the app shows you the gaps on one screen from day one, with inline entry for admins.
Coming
- Year-end rollover: promote every den one rank in a single bulk action, with history kept.
- Roster health beyond member IDs: youth with no guardian, guardians who never signed in, likely duplicates. See RSVP and roster health.
The roster holds the minimum about a kid: name, den, rank, member ID, and an optional birth date for rank eligibility. No photos, no youth contact details. Household adults hold the contact information.
