Dens are how a pack actually runs. The Tigers meet Tuesday at a house, the Webelos meet Thursday at the school, and the pack meets once a month. A tool that only knows about “the pack” makes every den leader keep their own calendar somewhere else.
Dens today
- Dens with a rank and a program year, created by a pack admin.
- Den leaders assigned per den. One adult can lead two dens and sees both.
- A den leader sees their den’s roster and, once sessions ship, their den’s sessions and confirm queue, and not another den’s.
Den schedules, coming
- Each den has its own calendar of sessions, with recurring meetings as a series.
- Each den has its own .ics feed, so a family subscribes to the Tiger den and the pack, not to everything.
- The pack calendar rolls the dens up. The Cubmaster sees every den’s schedule in one view; a parent sees the dens their kids are in.
- A note to families per session, shown on the RSVP page and the public calendar. Not a thread, not a chat.
Beyond dens
The same structure is a sub-group with its own schedule in any group Carabiner runs: a patrol, a section of a class, a team’s age bracket. The Cub Scout kit names them dens and gives them a rank; the structure underneath is the same.
